The Bridge (Year 7)

Performing Arts in The Bridge

Part of school life at The Bridge is participation in a wide range of experiences to develop our pupils both academically and socially. Activities include extending academic interests, sports, performing arts, community projects and the media, preserving the environment and student leadership. Students participate in the annual ‘Bridge Performance’. Past performances include ‘Grease’ In 2014, ‘Wizard of Oz’ in 2015, ‘Annie’ in 2016, ‘Aladdin’ in 2017, 'Bugsy Malone' in 2018, 'Beauty and the Beast' in 2019, 'Matilda' in 2022, 'The Lion King Jr' in 2023 and 'Shrek Jr' in 2024.

The cast of CHICAGO Teen took to the stage to a full and appreciative audience. The atmosphere was electric and the finale bow ended in a standing ovation. The students worked so hard on such detailed and difficult choreography, characterisation and vocals. The talent on stage made it hard to believe it was a school production. Lead roles delivered with maturity and class.  The team work, passion, commitment and resilience shown by every single cast member was amazing but above all they were kind and supportive to each other!

The Lion King Junior - The Musical.
The finale show was complimented with a joint performance with the original Simba from London's West End, Roger Wright - a truly emotional performance.
A massive well done to all - a very proud Performing Arts department!

Comments from Year 7 students from the cast of 'Matilda Jr' in 2022:

Hello, my name is Izzy, and I was picked to be the lead role, Matilda. This experience has made unbreakable friendships and I have grown a lot in confidence as a person. I have really enjoyed this experience and have improved on my acting, singing and dancing skills. This will take me further on in life and one day, I might even become a famous actor.

                                                                          Izzy Wheeler - Matilda

This whole show experience has changed my life. It has made me realise what I want to do in my future. I always thought that I would never have the confidence to stand up in front of a crowd and perform, but thanks to all the support around me I was able to do this.
A special thanks to Miss Karolina, Miss Danni and especially to Miss Kelly.
